First comes the thought – the way you see your environment and interpret it – then comes the feeling. You do not directly choose a feeling, but everything starts from that thought. When the children were young, I gave myself permission to get angry and react by shouting at them. Today I no longer shout at them. I realized that especially that thought made me get angry and shout. By thinking differently, I could change my reaction to that situation. The same thing when you think somebody is making a mistake in the traffic, you get angry at him/her and who knows how you react. If you think about the situation in more understanding way, you will probably react in a different way. You will not be angry but stay calm.

Your feeling depends on how you are thinking about that situation. What you think about the environment and what there is happening – how you see that situation. No other than you can feel your feeling. You are prisoner of your own feelings and only you feel them. Remember that your feelings are your soul’s environment. Do you want to be surrounded by pollutants (negative emotions), where your abilities are more limited, or do you want to live in a happy body, with an infinite number of options how to react on a situation? It’s your choice to react to events in your environment. You need to wake up and take off the automatic pilot and take responsibility for your feelings, life and events.

You can only have one feeling at a time. You are able to choose what you feel – your thoughts. First you need to notice what you think before you get angry. Does someone say something special and you get angry of it, because you think that your husband is lazy, or your wife is demanding and quarreling, then your thoughts are making you angry. You can come back to this later, when you have more perspectives on things. Are you happy, why not? You can choose happiness. By choosing right thoughts and you will choose to be happy most of your time awake – no matter what happens in your life. Some may not understand this yet, but hopefully you will sometimes get to this level. The happiness comes from inside you – it’s not something that happens you. It’s your choice to be happy. It needs that you think positively and are grateful of what you have today. You enjoy your life even if you are poor and have had many back draws, still you are able to se them in a bright way. You understand that you can learn from them and you are responsible for your life and what is happening in your life. So choose happiness.
